Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that our historic community of Bresaylor is a Métis settlement that now sits in the heart of the Homeland of the Métis and Treaty 6 Territory. We pay our respect to the many Indigenous Peoples of this place, the Métis, Nêhiyawak (Plains Cree), Nahkawininiwak (Saulteaux), Nakota (Assiniboine), Dakota and Lakota (Sioux), and Denesuline (Dene/Chipewyan). We honour and reaffirm our relationship with and responsibility to the land, the waters, the sky as a place that has nurtured and taught our ancestors and First Nation Peoples for millennia. Following the spirit of reciprocity taught to us by great grandmother (land) and grandfather (sky), we renew our commitment to sharing this space in a good way for all of our children.

Bresaylor is situated on treaty 6 territories and homeland of the mÉtis

Bresaylor Heritage Museum is a non-profit organization with the objective to showcase the Métis historic site and collections. Our vision is to share stories of the original families of Bremner, Sayer, and Taylor thereby inspiring pride in Métis descendants and spur conversation expanding understanding of the challenges and successes of Bresaylor and the surrounding area.
