The Bresaylor Heritage Museum features artifacts from the original Bresaylor community formed in 1882. The name was a combination of three of the first family names – Bremner , Sayers and Taylor. The museum also displays items and photos from the families who came later who included some Barr Colonists.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bresaylor! Please review our visitor guidelines outlined below prior to your visit. By visiting in person, you agree to abide by these policies.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of all is our priority. The Museum will continue to monitor and abide by guidelines issued by Saskatchewan Health Authority. 

  • If you are unable to visit us in person, please have a look at our website. We will be here to welcome you when you are able to return.
  • An inherent risk of exposure to airborne illness exists in any public space where people are present. We cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to airborne illness during your visit to The Museum. Those visiting The Museum do so at their own risk of such exposure.

Hours

The Bresaylor Museum is cared for by a small group of very dedicated volunteers. These volunteers would love to give you a tour. Please book an appointment between April and September by phone, email, or on the website.

The junction of the Fort Pitt and Edmonton Trails was Bresaylor.

13.2 km east of Paynton

Admission

Currently the Bresaylor Heritage Museum does not charge an admission. Donations are always welcome.

Payment

Donations and/or item purchases from the gift shop may be made with cash, cheque or etransfer.

Amenities

Bresaylor does not have amenities on site.

Accessibility

Bresaylor has preserved the site in its more traditional form including an authentic outhouse and natural lighting in the heritage building. Unfortunately the buildings are not wheelchair accessible. There is uneven landscaping and pathways to the buildings and in the buildings, pathways can be narrow and uneven. We will make efforts to accommodate persons with disabilities where possible.

For Your Safety

Wear comfortable shoes that provide stability when walking. Leave larger bags in your vehicle to avoid unintentional contact with artifacts that may be in more narrow areas of the museum.

Accommodations

The nearest communities with accommodations to Bresaylor are Maidstone, Saskatchewan 39 km to the west and the city of North Battleford, Saskatchewan 49.4 km to the east.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in the buildings, however, they are welcome on site if they remain under the control of their owners and any clean up needed is performed by the owners.

TIPS FOR VISITORS

  • Book a tour in advance with museum volunteers
  • Chose a day when the sun is shining so the natural light in the heritage building is at its brightest.
  • If you have specific history questions, asking in advance could give the volunteers an opportunity to possibly find the answer to your question

PARKING

Vehicles are able to drive onto the site and park a short walk from the buildings.
